1. Cancel anytime
All paid ComplyEasy plans are month-to-month or year-to-year with no long-term commitment. You can cancel at any time from your dashboard via Manage subscription, which opens the Stripe customer portal. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period — you keep full access until then.
2. Refunds
Because you can cancel at any time to stop future billing, we generally do not offer partial-month or partial-year refunds for time already paid.
We do issue full refunds in the following cases:
- Duplicate charge caused by a payment-processing issue on our side.
- Charge after cancellation — if you cancelled but were billed for a new period anyway.
- Extended outage that made the service materially unusable for a full billing period.
To request a refund, email billing@complyeasy.net from the address on your account within 30 days of the charge. Approved refunds are issued to the original payment method and typically arrive within 5–10 business days, depending on your bank.
If applicable local consumer law (e.g. EU right of withdrawal for consumer purchases) gives you a stronger refund right, that law prevails.
3. What happens when you cancel
| When | What happens |
|---|---|
| Immediately after you cancel | Nothing changes. You keep all paid features until the end of the current billing period. |
| End of billing period | Your account is downgraded to the Free plan. You keep read-only access to your existing analyses and can still export them. |
| On downgrade | Features above Free plan limits (extra frameworks, higher analysis quotas) become locked. Your data is not deleted; it’s just inaccessible for new work above the Free tier. |
4. Failed payments & grace period
If a renewal payment fails, we’ll show a payment issue banner in the dashboard and Stripe automatically retries the charge on its standard smart-retry schedule (typically up to four attempts over about three weeks). You keep full access to your paid plan for the remainder of the billing period you already paid for, and during Stripe’s retry window, while the banner prompts you to update your payment method. If the payment still can’t be collected after Stripe’s retries are exhausted, the subscription is marked unpaid or cancelled and your account is downgraded to the Free plan.
5. Deleting your account
Cancelling a subscription is not the same as deleting your account. If you want your data removed entirely, email privacy@complyeasy.net from your account’s email address and request deletion. We’ll:
- Delete your account and its uploaded documents, analysis results, and findings within 30 days of the request.
- Retain minimal billing/invoice records for 7 years as required by tax and accounting law (see the Privacy Policy).
- Send you a confirmation email once deletion is complete.
Deletion is permanent and cannot be undone — please export anything you need first from the dashboard.
6. Plan changes mid-cycle
- Upgrade from Free → Starter/Pro: takes effect immediately; you’re charged for the new plan on the spot, prorated by Stripe.
- Upgrade from Starter → Pro: takes effect immediately; Stripe prorates the difference.
- Downgrade from Pro → Starter or Free: takes effect at the end of the current billing period. You keep the higher tier until then.
